Peer support groups

We offer peer support in groups, both online and in person. You can also join our peer support Facebook groups to share experiences and find support in everyday life.

We organize open peer support meetings where patients with colorectal cancer can come and discuss and exchange experiences with others who have or have had the same disease.

Peer-to-peer meetings openly discuss colorectal cancer, but do not comment on treatments, medicines or medical staff. Meetings are always hosted by a trained volunteer or a Cancer Society worker.

Most meetings are held in Finnish, but English is often understood, and you are welcome to join

Peer support

  • We organise online peer support meetings via Teams for people with colorectal cancer, working-age participants, and their loved ones.

In these meetings, you can connect with others in a similar situation, share experiences, and talk about thoughts related to everyday life and illness in a safe and confidential environment. You are welcome to join just as you are – to listen, ask questions, or share your own experiences. It’s easy to take part from the comfort of your own home.

The meetings are facilitated by a trained peer supporter who is committed to confidentiality.

  • We maintain peer support groups on Facebook, offering support also when meeting in person is not possible. The groups are private, meaning that discussions are not visible to people outside the group. Conversations are moderated by our staff and trained volunteers.

Please note: To join a group, you need to request access and answer a few questions. These help us ensure that members are genuine and that the group remains a safe space for discussion. Your answers are only visible to the group administrators.
